Lovely New Macs
There’s nothing like getting a new Mac. Many of my clients want me to turn up and install their new Macs for them, I don’t mind of course, but it does mean I get to unwrap a lovely new Mac on a regular basis. But I don’t understand how anyone can resist doing it themselves.
Clicking any of the links below will find new Macs available at a number of UK retailers. I am actively looking for new sources. One retailer that won’t come up in the list is John Lewis. I am trying to get their co-operation, but they are nonetheless worth mentioning mainly because there is a good chance you can actually go and see a Mac in a store near you, and also because their own bundled warranty is so good.
Refurbished Macs
This is a good way to get a nearly new mac without risking buying one off Ebay. You get your Mac with a one year guarantee that you can upgrade to a 3 year policy with AppleCare, just like a new Mac! Apple Certified Refurbished Products are pre-owned Apple products that undergo Apple's stringent refurbishment process prior to being offered for sale. These products have been returned under Apple's Return and Refund Policies or have been used as Demonstration units. While only some units are returned due to technical issues, all units undergo Apple's stringent quality refurbishment process.
They are in 100% working condition, and are then sold as refurbished product. As these refurbished products have been
unpacked and manipulated, they might however exhibit some minor cosmetic imperfection, such as scratches, marks or discolourations.
Backing up your Mac
You can back up your Mac easily using OS X Leopard’s in-built Time machine. For many users this facility was the deciding factor when assessing whether to upgrade to Leopard.
Almost any disk is suitable - as long as it is bigger than your hard drive. And with storage so cheap these days there is no excuse not to back up your valuable data. Look in my Mac Shop for wireless, USB and Firewire solutions:
